Sydney

Sydney is Australia’s oldest and largest City.  The East Coast of Australia was surveyed in 1770 by the English Captain Cook and became a convict settlement in 1788 in Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour) at Circular Quay.  Early years were very difficult but the city grew to be one of the worlds great cities on many believe the worlds most beautiful harbour.  Today Sydney population is around 4.5 million with a mix of many cultures.  The city has come a long way since its early convict beginnings but still keeps an exciting mix of the old and the new with major companies head quarters and nearby 19th century sandstone buildings.

Sydney boasts beautiful beaches Bondi, Maroubra and Manly to the East, the famous Blue Mountains to the West and National Parks to the North and South.  There are attractions and sites for all ages and tastes.  The Harbour Bridge and Climb, a tour or Show in the Famous Opera House, City Shopping in busy Pitt or George Street, Taronga Zoo on the Harbour, eating out in trendy Oxford Street, Sydney’s bustling China Town, a Harbour Cruise ferry trip to Manly beach, bush walking at North or South Head, oversee the city from Centrepoint Tower the cities tallest building or Australia Square, Darling Harbour shows with the worlds largest Cinema Screens and one of the Worlds Greatest Aquarium, deep sea fishing, catch a Rugby League match at the 2000 Olympic stadium or a Cricket match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the Botanical Gardens just to the east of the CBD, party in the Rocks near the south end of the Harbour Bridge or in the red light district Kings Cross in the East. The list goes on and on.

Sydney is nice to visit any time of the year.  Average temperatures are around 25°C but it can get to over 40°C in summer. Overall Sydneysiders enjoy well over 300 sunny days or more a year.
