Manly Council

Don’t Miss Manly Beach!
If you are traveling to Australia then you must make a visit to Manly beach. This beach is located about 17 km out of Sydney and is considered one of the best surfing beaches in Australia. Today the beach has become well known for its great surfing and an all around terrific beach resort, with some great hotels, and shopping in the area as well.

Australian Surfing was born in Manly when a visiting Hawaian Duke rode the waves out on a hand made surfboard back in 1915. Today it is an area of Sydney, where generations fo families have lived for a long time.
Manly Beach was named by Capt. Arthur Phillip who when landing in this cove found the indigenous tribes to be very “manly.” On the western side of the beach, you will find Sydney harbour. On this side the water is very calm and great swimming spots abound. This is the side that also houses the ferry, on which you are transported to the beach, as well as the aquarium, and a few yacht clubs. On the east side, if you walk about three hundred meters you’ll come to the Pacific Ocean, and this is where you can find those great surfing waves.

When you get tired of swimming and surfing, then you can head on over to the shops. These are located around the Corso, which goes from the harbour side to the pacific side. The mall on the corso has some great outside café type restaurants and nice shops. If you visit the Sydney area plan on staying at least a couple of days at Manly beach.

Manly council was renamed to Nothern Beaches Council. If you are looking for yoga classes in Nothern Beaches visit Ryoho Yoga Belrose classes with YogaAboutYou.
