When visiting Sydney, you should also go and visit Penrith, which is named for a town in Cumbria,England. Why the Council is named after a town in England, no one is quite sure, but it is believed that it is because the early Penrith of 1819 was formed along just one road, just as the earlier English town was.
This council actually has some interesting history to it, before the Europeans came, it was inhabited by the Mulgoa tribe, who lived in huts and hunted off of the land. Their agriculture included fruits, and yams. The first Europeans to arrive mentioned that the tribe was quite friendly.
. If churches aren’t your thing then you will want to head to the commercial centers. The mall and shopping area in this district is the largest growth the area has experienced and you will find some great restaurants and unique shops here.
