Cobourg penisnsula, located in the North of the Northern Territories, attracts tourists by the Cobourg Marine Park and the Garig Gunak National Park .
Those who are interested in historical buildings, can explore remains of the pioneer settlement called Victoria, namely in Port Essington. This port is famous for its wonderful natural seacoast on the Northern side.
If you want to travel to Cobourg peninsula by car, on the way you should visit Arnhem Land, and mind that it is not free! A seven-day license costs about 230 AU$, camping expenses included. The license is valid only from May to October and may be bought from the Parks and Wildlife Commission.
As for an overnight stop, you may choose shady camping on the seashore near the Smith Point or one of the four cottages of the Cobourg Beach Huts. In cottages there is lightning, filled with sunrays, Jungle-shower and oganic toilets. Here you are completely on your own.
