Rockhampton was founded about 1750, and although this city with population of 65.000 is not so big, it is of great importance for cattle breading. Rockhampton has regional airport and of course good transport connections through train or rented cars.
Not far away from Rockhampton there is a crocodile breeding farm, and visitors undoubtedly wouldn’t miss it. Visitors are welcome here and those, who are not afraid of huge reptiles, really should plan to visit this place.
A Couple kilometers away from Rockhampton there is Aboriginal Cultural Centre, in which tourists have an opportunity to enjoy art and handicrafts of these people with rich cultural roots.
Along with golf, sky-jumping, horse riding and balloon-riding Rockhampton is also a starting point for a tour to about 300km away emeralds. There visitors get on huge diggings of sapphires north from equator, and many tourists remained here to try their luck and look for sapphires. Those who would like to explore mines have such opportunity too.
In Rockhampton climate is tropical, which is very good for bathing and long walks. But between November and April beaches may be closed, because of poisonous jelly-fish. Tourists certainly don’t want to meet with those.
