There is steel in Port Hedland. Due to the favourable location on the shore of Western Australia the produced steel can directly be loaded and shipped on tankers.
But if you do not favour mines or steel working, you will hardly find many places of interest in this purely industrial town. Port Hedland is not really a tourist town, at the best you will accommodate here passing through.
You will have a view all over Port Hedland from the lookout tower at a height of 26 m. If you like, you will learn more in sound and vision from the settlement to the Aborigines in the Dalgerty House Museum. There is also an art museum monthly changing exhibition topics.
Daily flights from Perth to Port Hedland are facilitating quick trips, or you can easily go by bus.
If you have more time, you go by rented car on the highway along the shore directly passing Port Hedland and enjoy the tour with several picnic facilities and views to the sea.
