South Australia
South Australia has 3.700 km coastline and over 100 islands and is one of the economically strongest states in Australia. You can find a lot of German town names such as Hahndorf around Adelaide.
At the end of the 19th century many Germans immigrated to Australia with a majority settling on the green hills around Adelaide. The German influence is also reflected in the shops. Hence you can find a Blackforest cake in several cake shops. About 1.1 million of the 1.5 million residents of South Australia live in Adelaide.
Typically for Australia the remaining people live in a small strip along the coastline. Interesting things to see are: the Barossa Valley with its wineries, the unique Kangaroo Island and Murray River with its stunning countryside.
