Denarau Island lies amid 850 acres of landscaped tropical gardens. There are also many different ways to spend your time: golf and tennis, a water park or excursions from Port Denarau Marina. If you are looking for accommodation, it is therefore worth first considering what you want to focus on during your trip: activities on the island or trips out on the water?

Garden Landscapes and Activities on Denarau Island

Denarau Golf & Racquet Club has an 18-hole championship course set in the island’s tropical landscape. The club also has ten tennis courts: six with natural grass and four with synthetic surfaces. Mini golf and a bungee trampoline are also available. In addition to the golf course, you can choose from several different activities when planning sporty and fun-filled days.

The Big Bula Waterpark offers a different kind of outing. Its attractions include large water slides, surfing experiences with big waves, climbing ten-metre-tall palm trees and obstacle courses. There is a separate area for younger children. The park also includes Fijian Falls and the world’s largest inflatable water park. As attractions and facilities may change, check which activities are currently available before visiting.

Port Denarau as a Starting Point

At Port Denarau, you will find tour operators, car rentals, spa services, banks, currency exchange outlets, shops and restaurants all in one place. The mix of services may change. The marina has ferry, water taxi and cruise operators offering day trips and transfers to island resorts. It is also a starting point for exploring the Mamanuca and Yasawa island groups. Port Denarau is therefore an important place to keep in mind if excursions and trips to island resorts are part of your travel plans.

The open-air Bula Bus connects the resorts on Denarau Island with Port Denarau Marina every day and runs every 10 to 15 minutes. As operations may change, check the current timetable in advance. Day trips to South Sea Island depart from Port Denarau aboard a high-speed catamaran.

Water Excursions and Cultural Experiences

The excursions from Port Denarau vary in destination and itinerary. The Fiji Island Cultural Experience departs from and returns to the marina. The Tivua Island Day Cruise includes guided snorkelling, guided glass-bottom boat rides, canoes and stand-up paddleboards. The return trip also includes a traditional kava ceremony and a handicraft demonstration.

The Sunset Dinner Cruise departs from Port Denarau Marina. On board, you can enjoy a tropical buffet made with fresh local ingredients, along with traditional Fijian cultural entertainment featuring song and dance. You can choose between a day trip with activities and cultural events, or an evening cruise with food and entertainment. Departure times, excursion inclusions, menus and programmes may change; check the latest information before booking.

This makes it easier to decide which experiences you would like to prioritise when choosing your destination, without combining the different offerings into a single excursion programme.
