Vomo combines mountainous island terrain, coastal paths and reef experiences. Guests can explore the 255-acre island, which is home to just one resort. Almost two-thirds of the terrain is mountainous, and several trails lead to the summit of Mount Vomo.

Trails between the summit and coast

The trail to the summit of Mt Vomo is a short, steep walk of about 15 minutes. Guests are invited to walk or run it. Trails around the base of Mt Vomo lead to an eastern hill at the far end of the island in about 30 minutes. There is a yoga platform there.

Allow about one to one and a half hours to walk all the way around Vomo. The route passes deserted beaches, rocky outcrops and beautiful swimming spots; the beaches around the island stretch for approximately five kilometres. Check local tide and safety advice before setting out.

Snorkelling and diving on the reef

An outer reef protects the beaches around Vomo, which are suitable for swimming and snorkelling during the day. You can snorkel directly from all the beaches. Ocean Play provides masks, snorkels and fins free of charge for adults and children. Check what equipment is currently available before your visit.

A guided snorkelling safari departs daily at 11 am with an Ocean Play guide to one of five nearby sites; up to twelve guests can take part. Times and group sizes may change, so it is worth checking in advance. Free guided snorkelling tours to the Coral Gene Bank introduce visitors to the importance of coral conservation and life on the reef. The stainless-steel installation lies 18 feet underwater and extends for 60 feet. In February 2025, it was home to more than 500 corals. On a hands-on Reef Restoration Dive, participants clean a stainless-steel art sculpture while the team cares for the corals. Participation depends on conditions and availability.

There are five dive sites around Vomo, reachable by boat from the Activities Centre in five to ten minutes. Their average depth is 12 to 20 metres; they are considered shallow dives. VOMO also offers English-language PADI courses. The Open Water certification course includes four days of theory and practical training.

Family experiences and Fijian culture

The Kids' Village is accessible via a suspension bridge. Facilities include a playroom, kitchen, media room and playhouse, as well as covered play areas, climbing frames, a BBQ and dining area, a dress-up wardrobe and craft tables. Club V offers Fijian cooking classes and weaving demonstrations for teenagers aged ten and up; programme offerings may change.

An authentic Meke and Lovo evening is held weekly for all guests, usually on Wednesday evening. After the Meke, VOMO's chefs serve a Fijian-inspired buffet featuring local ingredients and authentic island dishes. If you plan to attend, check the current programme in advance. Another way to spend time outdoors is handline fishing around Vomo: it is considered a family experience and can introduce children to the joys of fishing.

There is also a complimentary 9-hole pitch-and-putt golf course. Golf clubs for adults and children can be borrowed free of charge; check their availability in advance. For a meal somewhere else on the island, gourmet island picnics with chilled drinks can be prepared and delivered anywhere on Vomo. Booking arrangements may change.
