Brimbank City brings together river landscapes, striking geological formations, cultural heritage and international cuisine. Experiences range from a walk along the Maribyrnong River to theatre, local markets and parks. You can tailor your trip to the themes that interest you most.

River, Rocks and Open Spaces

The Brimbank Loop Walk is 3.5 kilometres long and takes about 1.5 hours. It follows the Maribyrnong River through the natural basin of Brimbank Park before climbing a steep slope. Its length and approximate duration give you a practical guide for planning your day; the route combines a riverside section with a significant climb.

The Organ Pipes, Rosette Rock and Tessellated Pavement geological formations are located in Organ Pipes National Park. The park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people. Families can also visit the Playscape at Brimbank Park, which was designed for children of all abilities, including children who use wheelchairs. Brimbank has a total of 1,204 hectares of parks, gardens, playgrounds, dog parks and skate parks.

Heritage, Theatre and Events

The Keilor Heritage Trail brings the village’s history to life through signs that record the history and significance of selected sites and buildings. Check the route details locally before setting out. The heritage-listed HV McKay Memorial Gardens offer a different historical perspective: Hugh Victor McKay, founder of the Sunshine Harvester Works, established them in 1909. They are the earliest example of an industrial garden in Victoria.

The Bowery Theatre at St Albans Community Centre is a hub for arts and cultural events. Its program includes theatre, music, dance and events for children. The annual Be Bold Festival, held in Brimbank, is also part of the events calendar. If you’re planning around it, check the specific event dates.

International Cuisine and Markets

Alfrieda Street is home to restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores. The offerings include bánh mì, phở and other international dishes. St Albans Market offers fresh produce, while Sunshine Marketplace brings together restaurants from around the world, street art and cafés. These varied settings offer several ways to include food and local everyday life in your trip.
