Werribee South combines a stretch of coast along Port Phillip Bay with the Werribee South Jetty at the mouth of the Werribee River. The foreshore offers different ways to spend the day: fishing, water activities, a picnic by the foreshore, or a route on foot or by bike. There are also views across the bay and of the You Yangs, as well as a change between coastal scenery and market gardens along the Wyndham Bay Trail. This gives you different ways to shape your trip around the water, scenery and activities on land.

Jetty and foreshore: fishing and views

Werribee South Jetty is at the mouth of the Werribee River, with views across the bay and of the You Yangs. At Werribee South Foreshore, you can fish from the jetty or the sandy beach; local conditions may vary. The foreshore therefore offers two fishing spots, while the jetty is also a specific vantage point for views of the You Yangs.

Water activities

Boating, canoeing, kayaking and jet skiing are possible at Werribee South Foreshore. Access to these activities is via the large boat ramp and car park. Werribee South Boat Ramp is near the mouth of the Werribee River at the foreshore. Options range from paddling a canoe or kayak to jet skiing—different ways to spend a day by the water. If you plan to use the boat ramp, check for current information before you set off.

On foot or by bike along the Wyndham Bay Trail

The Wyndham Bay Trail passes Werribee South Beach. Coastal views lie on one side, and market gardens on the other. From Werribee South Foreshore, you can walk or cycle along the trail to Wyndham Harbour; the return trip is five kilometres. The route thus links a named destination with changing scenery along the way. You can choose between a walk and a bike ride; both options take you along the trail to Wyndham Harbour. As a route on land, the Bay Trail complements the activities by the water with a distinct focus for an outing.

Picnic and take a break at the foreshore

Werribee South Foreshore is a stretch of coast along Port Phillip Bay, is suitable for picnics and offers views across the bay. A children’s playground and barbecue areas add to the facilities by the water. If you don’t plan to spend the day solely following a route or doing water sports, you can also include a picnic at the foreshore. Families can add the playground as a separate stop in their day’s plans; the barbecue areas are another specific feature of the foreshore.
